Adopt-A-Road

If you were to ask me, adopting a road doesn’t seem half bad in the scheme of things. They don’t cry in the middle of the night, you don’t need to housebreak them, and they don’t need to go to college. But apparently other people aren’t quite as sold.

In fact, Florida is ranked 50th out of the 50 states in general volunteer participation rates with millennials being the lowest participating generation of traditional volunteers. In order to boost participation rates locally for Tampa Bay’s Adopt-A-Road program, we decided to target millennials and restructure the system from the ground up.

The new app introduces a party system to the Adopt-A-Road program. Now, volunteers no longer have to commit to 2-year contracts if they want to adopt a road. Instead, they can create and join parties whenever it fits their schedules. Parties can be themed, have more of a social atmosphere, and allow users to earn badges and review their stats from participation.
